Victor Sosanya is a bold example of an individual who has persevered to create an environment where he could successfully thrive and be a role model to many. Born and raised in Dagenham, Victor attended a local primary school where he used to buy and re-sell items such as sweets, match attax and yu-gi-oh cards to his fellow students in a bid to raise money. This was the start of something special, as his creativity and passion for enterprise sparked and his journey was only to begin.
Victor carried that same entrepreneurial spirit into secondary school where he realised that during school, students were often hungry and of low energy between classes. So, he created a business selling hand-made chicken wraps. Every morning, Victor will wake up at 5 AM to make chicken wraps and travel to school early to sell to students at school generating over £150 every week in revenue. With this income, Victor set up his clothing brand at the age of 14 called ‘Young & Gifted Clothing’. The clothing line was set up to encourage and empower the youth in his community and surrounding areas to embrace their talents from within. Victor brand gained huge traction as he posted many people showcasing their craft in his clothing such as musicians, comedians’ motivational speakers and much more. Victor was invited to speak on Reprezent radio about his brand to uplift and praise the youths in a community where only the negatives where being highlighted. Not only did he manage to achieve this success whilst in school but throughout this time he was vigorously studying for exams eventually achieving 7 A*s and 1 A at GCSE.
Growing up in a secondary school where more people were charged for murder than attended Oxbridge, Victor managed to move to a Sixth Form that will not limit his potential. He went off to do exceptional things such as organise the first-ever black history month event celebrating black history, culture, and achievements, raising £590 for Sickle Cell Society. He was successful in securing two internships at global accounting firms PwC and BDO for summer 2018 at the age of 17 years old. After completing the internships Victor helped several individuals with their CV’s and applications to multiple programmes, in which many still express their gratitude until today. He achieved 3 A’s at A-Level receiving 18,000 likes as he shared his achievements on Linkedin. His value and skills have been further recognised as he has been awarded a full-tuition scholarship to the University of Warwick endorsed by Swiss multinational investment bank Credit Suisse as part of the ‘Steps to Success’ Programme.
